CBIZ’s commitment to its employees is evident in its employee engagement initiatives including professional development opportunities, wellness programs, community involvement projects and year-round social events that unite employees.

CBIZ is one of many companies in the financial services industry. But what sets it apart from other companies is its commitment to creating a flexible and fun work environment that prioritizes employee engagement, wellness and growth.

Founded in 1996, CBIZ is a leading financial, insurance, and advisory service provider to businesses throughout the United States. With over 120 offices in 33 states, including two in Colorado, CBIZ is one of the country’s largest accounting services and insurance brokerage providers.

“When we appreciate our employees, we create an environment where they feel valued, respected, and motivated to contribute their best,” said CBIZ Colorado Senior Managing Director Dan Seff. “It’s not just about saying, ‘Thank you.’ It’s
about recognizing their efforts, celebrating their achievements and fostering a culture of appreciation that inspires everyone to succeed.”

CBIZ’s commitment to its employees is evident in its employee engagement initiatives, which include professional development opportunities, wellness programs, community involvement projects, and year-round social events that unite employees.

Promoting growth and professional development

“We encourage our employees to feel they can be their authentic self in the workplace,” said Seff, who is passionate about celebrating the individual within the bigger team. Over the years, CBIZ has established several to support diversity and inclusion in the workplace, create networking opportunities, and encourage employees to learn and grow professionally and personally.

One such group is CBIZ Pride, which provides a safe and supportive space for LGBTQ+ employees and allies to connect and advocate for the community. CBIZ also has a Young Professionals group (CYP), which helps early-career professionals develop new skills, connect with experienced members and advance their careers.

CBIZ recognizes the value of empowering its female employees. To that end, the company established the CBIZ Women’s Advantage program (CWA). This program offers professional development, mentorship opportunities and career enhancement. The CBIZ Women’s Advantage program also fosters team building through various activities such as chocolate and wine tastings, charity events and creating Hope Kits for the National Breast Cancer Foundation.

CBIZ has a , a non-profit organization that helps women achieve economic independence by providing professional attire, career development tools and support. CBIZ raised over $100,000 for Dress for Success nationwide in 2022 through the CBIZ Your Hour Her Power campaign.

Prioritizing wellness and balance

In addition to helping employees grow professionally, CBIZ prioritizes a well-balanced lifestyle and overall health and wellness by providing various resources and initiatives to support employees’ physical and mental well-being.

One example is a $500 stipend for wellness-related expenses for employees. CBIZ also provides its team with access to , a confidential counseling services program to provide support, guidance and resources on various topics ranging from mental health to financial planning. CBIZ employees also receive a free that offers virtual wellness classes and online coaching. Additionally, Colorado employees receive a complimentary membership to the Colorado Mountain Club.

Caring for the community

CBIZ’s commitment to making a positive impact in the communities it serves is evident through its CBIZ Cares program. This program encourages employees to give back to their communities by offering paid volunteer time off, service projects, and donation drives. Last year, CBIZ offices, including Colorado, collected over 1.2 million pounds of food for local communities.

“Community is one of our core pillars, and we believe it’s our responsibility to give back to the communities in which we operate,” said Seff.

In today’s fast-paced world, finding a workplace that prioritizes employee growth and well-being while also positively impacting the community may seem like an unachievable goal. However, CBIZ is proving that it’s possible.
