The Rockies announced Friday that reliever Brent Suter was placed on the 15-day IL with a left oblique strain, while right-handed pitcher Noah Davis was called up from Triple-A Albuquerque in a corresponding move.

Suter injured his oblique in Colorado’s 8-6 loss to the Reds on Tuesday at Great American Ballpark. The left-handed pitcher has been a solid arm in the Rockies’ bullpen, going 4-0 with a 2.81 ERA in 31 appearances this season.

Injuries have plagued the Rockies in 2023. They have already lost starting pitchers German Marquez (Tommy John surgery), Antonio Senzatela (right elbow sprain) and Ryan Feltner (skull fracture and a concussion) for extended periods of time.

Meanwhile, designated hitter Charlie Blackmon (broken hand), right fielder Kris Bryant (left foot injury), first baseman C.J. Cron (lower back) and second baseman Brendan Rodgers (left shoulder surgery) are also dealing with injuries. Manager Bud Black said Cron is getting closer to returning, as he will be the designated hitter for Arizona Complex League Rockies, the Rookie level-affiliate, on Friday night.

“Thatap a real positive,” Black added.

Bryant was on the field before Friday’s game against the Los Angeles Angels, running, hitting and fielding, which Black called a good sign.

“He’ll do the same again tomorrow,” said Black, who did not provide a timetable on Bryantap return. “If this continues, (Bryant) going out and playing is right around the corner.”
