Innovative backcountry ski area near Kremmling will close 

Owners believe the lift-less concept was sound, but location was too far from Denver

Bluebird Backcountry, located near the east side of Rabbit Ears Pass, had a variety of terrain including slopes that were ideal for first-time backcountry skiers interesting in learning how to do it.
