Getting your player ready...

When the United States Women’s National Team needed a big-time player in Wednesday’s game against the Netherlands, it was Golden native and team captain Lindsey Horan who delivered it.

The 29-year-old midfielder leveled the score in the 62nd minute off a corner kick. Moments earlier, she had to exit the game after she was taken down and checked out by trainers.

After re-entering the field of play, she and Daniëlle van de Donk had a talking to by the official after there was pushing in the box. Horan got the last word on the next play as she made a darting run on a corner kick from Rose Lavelle and headed home the equalizer.

The Netherlands controlled the game in the first-half and opened the scoring in the 17th minute off of Jill Roord.

Horan also scored against Vietnam in the group-stage opener last Friday. It was her fourth-career World Cup goal.
