Getting your player ready...

In a season full of bad breaks, the Colorado Rapids just got another.

Goalkeeper William Yarbrough will be sidelined for the next six to eight weeks, the team announced Tuesday, after undergoing surgery to repair a meniscus tear in his right knee.

If that timeline holds up, there’s a chance the Mexican national won’t see the field the rest of the season for Colorado. Six weeks would put his return at roughly Oct. 3, which would bring him back in time to play the team’s final three regular-season games.

Given that the Rapids currently sit at the bottom of the MLS Western Conference standings, the club likely won’t be in a rush to bring Yarbrough back. The 34-year-old is the franchise leader in shutouts (33), and is tied for the fifth-most (7) in MLS this season.

Marko Ilic, who the Rapids acquired on loan from Belgian side K.V. Kortrijk in February, will likely serve as Yarbrough’s  replacement in net.
