Investigators believe a 21-year-old driver died Thursday night after being struck by a bullet when the gun his passenger was holding “went off,” Aurora police said in a .
Police responded at 10:50 p.m. Thursday to a report of a vehicle crash in the 13600 block of East Bates Avenue, according to an Aurora Police Department post on X.
Two men were found in a crashed Toyota Camry when officers arrived, both having suffered gunshot wounds.

The 21-year-old driver was pronounced dead at the scene; the passenger, a 47-year-old man, was taken to a hospital.
He is in police custody, according to the Aurora Police Department news release, and charges are pending further investigation.
