Portland State scored the winning goal with 94 seconds remaining Friday to defeat Northern Colorado 2-1 in a Big Sky Conference women’s soccer match at Hillsboro Stadium in Portland.

The game was the first conference match for both teams. The loss dropped UNC to 0-10-1 overall. The Bears’ next match is noon Saturday against Sacramento State at Jackson Stadium in Greeley. The game is UNC’s Big Sky Conference home opener.

Ocean Rideout scored the unassisted goal at the 88-minute, 26-second mark for Portland State, which is now 4-5-0 overall this season. The goal was Rideout’s first of the season.

Portland State (4-5-0 overall) opened the scoring with midfielder Abi Hoffman converting a penalty kick in the 26th minute. The goal was Hoffman’s fourth of the year.

Bears senior midfielder Morgan King tied the game in the 63rd minute on a penalty kick for her first collegiate goal.

Kaya Lindberg had seven saves in goal for UNC. Eden Millan had five saves for Portland State. The Vikings outshot UNC 15-10 and 9-6 in shots on goal.

“That was a tough one,” UNC coach Tim Barrera said in a news release from the athletic department. “I was pleased how we got ourselves back in the game and created a few potential game-winning chances. Bummed for the players with how we ended up losing the match. Quick turnaround but excited to get a home match Sunday.”
