Colorado is short over 100,000 housing units despite help from construction surge, slow population growth

State deficit has fallen by 26,000 units since 2019, group finds.

A ramp up in new construction, especially apartments, helped Colorado reduce its deficit of housing units from around 127,000 to just over 101,000 between 2019 and 2021, according to Up for Growth. Most other states saw their underproduction accelerate. Colorado has also seen less migration, which helped ease the shortfall. (Helen H. Richardsonhe Denver Post)
