City Center South, 1001 11th Ave., is open and back to normal business hours after closing for most of the day Monday due to a security threat, the City of Greeley announced in a Facebook Post.
City Center South closed Monday morning after police say a man called threatening to shoot up the Greeley municipal court following a domestic dispute.
Just before 8:30 a.m., a female with two children — a four year old and a one year old — came into City Center South asking for help with a domestic disturbance.
Police say she got into an altercation with 37-year-old Ismael Rodriguez nearby, and came to City Center South since it was so close instead of calling police.
While the victim was at City Center South officers were able to determine probable cause to arrest Rodriguez. While that happened, Rodriguez called making threats directed at the municipal court, according to police.
Police say he told the victim if she didn’t release the children to him, that he would “come back to court to shoot it up.”
The municipal court shut down first, then the rest of City Center South closed shortly after. All meetings — and any other business — scheduled for Monday were either cancelled or relocated.
Police say they arrested Rodriguez later in the day and there is no additional threat to the area.
