Police say a man arrested late last month on suspicion of ramming two squad cars in Fort Lupton and fleeing from officers was also allegedly in possession of more than $150,000 in stolen equipment before his arrest.

Larry Walker, 32, is suspected of stealing a van, a trailer and an excavator, along with the truck he used to flee from police, according to an affidavit for his arrest.

Just after 7 a.m. on Dec. 18, roughly four hours before police contacted Walker, they say they spoke with a witness who claimed he had located his stolen trailer and excavator at Weld County Road 34 and Weld County Road 29 using a tracking device. Police met the victim there and he positively identified the trailer and excavator, according to the affidavit.

He told police the trailer was estimated to be worth $30,000 and the excavator was estimated to be worth $125,000 — totaling $155,000.

Police say he later called back and told them about a white truck and white van involved in the theft that were currently parked at Weld County Road 22.5 and U.S. Highway 85.

Police tried to pinch the white truck in, when Walker rammed two police cars, and hit another before fleeing police in Fort Lupton, according to the affidavit. Police discontinued pursuit after Walker drove over a mile in oncoming traffic before finally arresting him in Evans.

Police say the van was identified as stolen from a facilities management company in Denver. The owner told police it was stolen during a burglary along with another van that had yet to be recovered.

The first victim identified more items stolen from him — including a printer and a laser level — in the back of the van. Walker’s phone was also later recovered from the van.

Walker has a disposition hearing on Feb. 15 at Weld District Court.
