Annual tradition set to take place at 8 a.m. Friday in Chautauqua Park

Boulder will celebrate its annual Groundhog Day tradition on Friday with an appearance from Flatiron Freddy, the city’s stuffed yellow-bellied marmot.

Boulder Open Space and Mountain Parks rangers will kick off Flatiron Freddy’s arrival at 8 a.m. at the Chautauqua Ranger Cottage in Chautauqua Park, 900 Baseline Road and Ninth Street. Freddy will come out of his burrow to make his famous weather prediction for the rangers to interpret.

Those attending the event in person are asked to register at .

Guests who arrive before 8 a.m. will be treated to free breakfast drinks and snacks.
