Firefighters are continuing to battle a 100-acre fire in eastern Pueblo County Friday, according to the Pueblo County Sheriff’s Office.
The sheriff’s office first reported the 209 fire on X at 12:41 p.m. Thursday. In a the fire burned 100 acres of grass and trees in the Arkansas River bottom but was 100% contained.

The fire was burning on land south of Colorado 96 near Boone, but neither the town nor any structures were threatened as of Friday afternoon, according to the sheriff’s office.
At least 13 agencies responded to the fire Thursday, and crews from the Pueblo County Sheriff’s Office Emergency Services and Division of Fire Protection and Control continued to fight hotspots Friday, .
The cause of the fire is still under investigation.
