Denver police are searching for a 33-year-old Denver man accused of improperly handling human remains, including storing a woman’s body in a hearse for years and keeping the cremated remains of dozens of people in his home.

The Denver Police Department issued an arrest warrant for Miles Andrew Harford after finding a woman’s body and cremains of approximately 30 people at his rented house in the 2500 block of South Quitman Street on Feb. 6.

The woman died in 2022 and her family told police Harford had given them cremains, but Denver police believe her body had been stored in the hearse since shortly after her death, according to previous reporting.

Investigators also found cremains in a crawl space and U-Haul on the property, some cremated as early as 2012.

Denver police officials initially said Harford was cooperating with the investigation when they announced the case at a Feb. 16 news conference, but seeking his whereabouts.

He is wanted on suspicion of abuse of a corpse, forgery and theft, according to Denver police.

Harford owned Apollo Funeral and Cremation Service, a business with a Littleton mailing address that has been closed since September 2022.

Anyone with information about his location can contact Metro Denver Crime Stoppers at 720-913-7867.
