Denver man killed in Vail ski accident, cause of death unknown

A Denver man died in a ski accident at Vail Mountain in early March, officials announced Friday.

Gabriel Klein, a 35-year-old Denver man, died in an ski accident on an intermediate trail at Vail Ski Resort on Saturday, March 2, according to an emailed statement to the Denver Post from Vail Mountain on Friday.

Emergency crews transported Klein to the Vail Health Hospital Emergency Room after Vail Ski Patrol responded to the incident, according to the statement.

“Vail Mountain, Vail Ski Patrol and the entire Vail Resorts family extend our deepest sympathy and support to our guestap family and friends,” said Beth Howard, Vail Mountain vice president and chief operating officer, in the statement.

Klein was identified by the Eagle County Coroner’s Office, but his cause of death has not yet been determined, Coroner Kara Bettis said.
