
A 17-year-old Denver boy was arrested after Jefferson County sheriff’s officials say he stole $20,000 worth of LEGOs and minifigures from a shop in the early hours of May 12.
Deputies began investigating the theft after someone tried to break into Bricks & Minifigs at 8936 W. Bowles Ave. at 4:30 a.m. on May 12. The suspect later returned and broke in by tying a strap from a car bumper to the doors and pulling them open, causing “severe damage,”
The suspect and 329 minifigures worth $20,000, according to the Jefferson County Sheriff’s Office.
Investigators identified the boy as a suspect and a customer reported someone was trying to sell the stolen items online, the sheriff’s office
Sheriff’s officials arranged to buy some of the LEGOs from the boy, confirmed they were among the stolen LEGOs and later searched the boy’s home, where they recovered nearly all of the stolen items.
The boy was arrested on suspicion of second-degree burglary, criminal mischief and theft, all felonies.
