U.S. 285 reopen near Aspen Park after 14-hour closure for fatal trailer crash

Person killed was in vehicle hit by trailer’s dumped load of pipe and angle iron

U.S. 285 in Jefferson County was closed in both directions for more than 14 hours after a fatal crash Tuesday,

The crash occurred near Aspen Park in Jefferson County at 5 p.m., when a tractor-trailer driving southbound drove off the road and rolled onto its side, dumping a load of pipe and angle iron on top of five other vehicles, CSP officials said in a news release.

One person in a vehicle hit by the tractor-trailer’s load died at the scene.
