Eastbound Interstate 70 reopened after a tractor-trailer fire and five-vehicle crash closed the highway between Silverthorne and Georgetown for several hours, according to state officials.
A tractor-trailer caught fire on eastbound I-70 near Georgetown at 12:39 p.m., Colorado State Patrol officials said in a news release.
A secondary crash in the backed-up traffic involved five vehicles and sent three people to the hospital with injuries, according to state patrol. Their injuries do not appear to be serious, but “clean up will be extensive,”
The highway reopened as of 4 p.m., according to the Colorado Department of Transportation.
