Two teenagers have been arrested in connection with Wednesday’s Aurora Hills shooting that sent two boys to the hospital, police said Friday.
A 14-year-old boy was arrested on three outstanding warrants — second-degree assault, third-degree assault and criminal mischief — and a 15-year-old boy was arrested on suspicion of multiple weapons charges and obstructing a police officer, Aurora Police Department spokesperson Sydney Edwards said.
The 15-year-old had an illegally modified handgun equipped with an auto switch that converts a semi-automatic handgun into a fully automatic weapon, Edwards said.
Investigators are still working to determine the arrested teenagers’ exact involvement with Wednesday’s shooting, she said. It’s unknown if the gun officers confiscated from the 15-year-old was used in the shooting.
Police have found all the suspects and victims involved and will work with the district attorney’s office to determine appropriate charges for the others who haven’t been arrested yet, Edwards said.
Aurora officers originally responded to reports of a shooting in the 12000 block of East Ford Avenue just after 4 p.m. Wednesday, the police department said in a .
When they arrived, officers found an 11-year-old and 14-year-old with injuries that were not life-threatening, the news release stated. Both boys were taken to the hospital.
