A single-vehicle crash left one person dead near northbound Sante Fe Drive and Interstate 25 in Denver early Saturday morning,

Three people including the driver were inside the vehicle at the time of the crash, which officers responded to at about 12:13 a.m., police spokesman Kurt Barnes said.

Barnes said the driver and one passenger escaped without serious injuries, while the other passenger, later identified as 24-year-old Samuel Rascon, was declared dead at the scene.

The Denver Office of the Medical Examiner said Rascon died from blunt force injuries.

Barnes said the crash was still being investigated by police and that it was too soon to say whether speed or other factors contributed to the crash.
