Denver police search for carjacking, hit-and-run suspect in Wednesday crash

Officials said stolen Dodge Challenger Coupe had been found Friday morning

Denver police are searching for a carjacking suspect who ran over the car’s owner and fled the scene, officials said.

Officers responded to reports of a hit-and-run crash around 5:10 p.m. Wednesday near East Elmendorf Drive and North Yampa Street that sent a pedestrian to the hospital with serious injuries, according to the Denver Police Department.

Now, investigators say the pedestrian was the car’s owner and was hit as the unidentified thief fled.

The Colorado Bureau of Investigation that police had located the car involved in the crash, a gray 2023 Dodge Challenger Coupe, after Denver police issued a on Wednesday.

Neither agency had announced an arrest in the case as of Friday morning.
