A segment of eastbound Interstate 70 near Silverthorne is once again open after closing Friday due to “safety concerns,” according to Colorado’s Department of Transportation.

The closure extended from Silverthorne through the area of the Eisenhower-Johnson Memorial Tunnel. indicated the roadway was again open Saturday morning.

The agency has warned that travel through Colorado’s mountains until Saturday morning due to the ongoing winter weather — which may also lead to increased traffic as skiers seek fresh powder and take advantage of the Presidents’ Day holiday weekend, CDOT says.
