Police are investigating after a body was found Wednesday morning in an Aurora retention pond outside of the University of Colorado’s Anschutz Medical Campus.

The 35-year-old man, who has not been publicly identified, was found dead in the retention pond at East Colfax Avenue and Quentin Street, outside of the hospital, CU Anschutz spokesperson Kelsea Pieters said.

Pieters said the man may have fallen through the ice of the pond between 10 p.m. and 10:30 p.m. Tuesday. He is not connected to the medical campus, she said.

Investigators don’t believe there was foul play and there is no threat to the campus at this time, Pieters said. The incident remains under investigation.

The man will be identified by the Adams County Coroner’s Office.

This is a developing story and may be updated.
