A 15-year-old boy died after an apparent accidental shooting in a northwest Aurora mobile home park Sunday night,

Officers responded to the hospital around 7:30 p.m. after two 15-year-old boys arrived with gunshot wounds, the Aurora Police Department said in a news release Monday.

One of the teenagers had life-threatening injuries and later died.

Investigators found three 15-year-old boys were inside a mobile home in the 1600 block of Sable Boulevard when one of the boys started playing the gun and it went off, striking the boy who was handling it as well as the second boy who later died.

The third teen was not injured and drove the other two to the hospital, according to the police department.

Officers arrested the boy who was handling the gun on suspicion of second-degree murder. None of the teens’ names are being released because they are minors.

Police are still looking into how the teens got the gun. Anyone with information about the case can contact Metro Denver Crime Stoppers at 720-913-7867.
