A kitchen fire broke out at El Chingon Bistro in Denver’s Santa Fe Art District on Friday afternoon, just over a week after the restaurantap grand opening in the building formerly occupied by El Noa Noa Mexican Restaurant.

crews were called to the fire at 722 N. Santa Fe Drive just after 3 p.m. and reported smoke coming from the roof, the agency said on social media.

A fire in a kitchen hood had extended to the roof, and firefighters had the blaze under control by 3:34 p.m. No injuries were reported.

El Chingon Bistro has served up Mexican cuisine in different metro Denver locations since 2010, specializing in “the timeless beauty of Mexico City’s culinary artistry,” according to the restaurantap website.
