A Denver jury on Tuesday convicted a 32-year-old man of murder in a domestic violence shooting last year, .

The jury found James Sanchez guilty of first-degree murder, tampering with physical evidence and violating a protection order, according to court records.

Sanchez, who was arrested in March 2024 in the shooting death of 39-year-old Desiree Terrazas, faces life in prison without the possibility of parole when he’s sentenced on Sept. 2, according to the Denver District Attorney’s Office.

The fatal shooting happened on March 2, 2024, in the 2700 block of West Iliff Avenue. When officers arrived, they found Terrazas dead at the scene from a gunshot wound.

said the shooting was domestic violence.
