Broomfield police arrested a man who was barricaded inside a hotel room in southwest Broomfield near where Wadsworth Parkway approaches U.S. 36, according to the police department.
The man, who barricaded himself at the WoodSpring Suites hotel at 121 Edgeview Drive after officers responded about 11:30 a.m. Thursday, was later arrested, .
The Broomfield Crisis Negotiations Team and SWAT had responded to the scene,
The suspect threw a knife at officers trying to arrest him on several felony warrants for violent crime. Then he barricaded himself in the hotel, according to the earlier post.
The officer was taken to a local hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.
Another officer was bitten by the suspect’s dog. That officer was treated at a local hospital and released. The dog is now with Broomfield Animal Services, according to the X.com post announcing the arrest.
SWAT deployed gas into the hotel room and arrested the suspect without further incident.
Police and told the community to avoid the immediate area around the hotel while the man was barricaded. Nearby businesses and residents were not required to shelter in place.
