Several lanes and ramps on Interstate 25 will close overnight in Douglas County for construction starting Sunday, according to the Colorado Department of Transportation.
Traffic will be limited to one or two lanes late at night and early in the morning, but all lanes will reopen by 6 a.m., according to a from the agency.
On Sunday night, drivers can expect:
- Triple lane closures on northbound I-25 from C-470 to Ridgegate Parkway. The first lane will close at 6 p.m., the second at 8 p.m. and the third at 10 p.m., reducing traffic to one lane, according to CDOT.
- The Lincoln Avenue off-ramp on northbound I-25 to close at 6 p.m. Drivers should detour to East County Line Road, enter southbound I-25 and use that exit for Lincoln Avenue, transportation officials said.
- A closure of the northbound I-25 on-ramp at Ridgegate Parkway at 10 p.m. Drivers should take South Peoria Street north to Lincoln Avenue to enter northbound I-25.
- Reduced speed limits on the northbound highway near the construction
Monday night’s construction will impact southbound I-25, causing:
- Double lane closures on the southbound highway from C-470 to Ridgegate Parkway. The first lane will close at 7 p.m. and the second will close at 8 p.m., according to CDOT.
- The southbound I-25 on-ramp at Lincoln Avenue to close at 6 p.m. Drivers should take South Peoria Street to Ridgegate Parkway to enter southbound I-25.
- Reduced speed limits on southbound I-25 near the construction
During the last night of construction, on Tuesday, drivers will see double lane closures on northbound and southbound I-25 between C-470 and Ridgegate Parkway starting at 8 p.m. Two lanes will remain open in either direction as crews set up median barriers.
The night construction is expected to cause up to 20-minute delays between 6 and 10 p.m. on each of the three nights, CDOT officials said.
The construction may continue into Wednesday night if delayed by weather, according to the agency.
The will create slip ramps near I-25’s Lincoln Avenue exit for Bustang transit services and a pedestrian bridge over the interstate, according to state transportation officials.
