
Class 5A
1. Cherry Creek (5-0) won at No. 7 Pine Creek, 42-0: Senior QB Brady Vodicka connected with BYU tight end commit Ty Goettsche for a pair of touchdown passes in the first quarter, and the Bruins defense posted its second shutout in three games as Creek claimed its 18th straight win dating back to last season. Next week: vs. Cherokee Trail, 7 p.m. Oct. 3.
2. Valor Christian (4-1) lost at No. 4 Ralston Valley, 38-14: The first loss of the Mike Sanford Era was defined by the Eagles offense getting shut out in the second half. Channing Fox had a rushing TD in the first half, and the Eagles saw a seven-point halftime deficit balloon in the third quarter. Next week: vs. No. 5 Mountain Vista, 7 p.m. Oct. 3.
3. Arvada West (5-0) did not play: Arvada West will begin nonconference play undefeated with wins over Legend and Grandview. Next week: at Denver South, 4 p.m. Oct. 3.
4. Ralston Valley (5-0) won vs. No. 2 Valor Christian, 38-14: In a statement win for the Mustangs, Ralston Valley QB Zeke Andrews balled out with 215 yards on 11-of-16 passing. In addition to dicing up the Eagles’ secondary, Andrews also had two TDs on the ground as part of an 11-carry, 121-yard night. Andrews’ 29-yard TD pass to Nico Benallo midway through the fourth quarter put the game on ice as the Ralston Valley defense also turned in a dominant effort. Next week: vs. Chatfield, 7 p.m. Oct. 3.
5. Mountain Vista (5-0) won vs. Overland, 62-6: The Golden Eagles enacted a running clock for the second straight game against the outmatched Blazers. It was 28-0 by the end of the first quarter as wideout/cornerback Brooklyn Bailey hauled in three touchdowns and 71 yards on four receptions. Mountain Vista also got game-changing plays on defense (six takeaways, one pick-six) and special teams (punt block). Next week: at No. 2 Valor Christian, 7 p.m. Oct. 3.
6. Legend (4-1) won at Castle View, 55-13: The Titans lost a thriller to Arvada West two weeks ago and then were on a bye, so they came out licking their chops. DJ Bordeaux threw for 201 yards and four TDs while adding another on the ground. Kellen Marchand had over 100 yards receiving. On defense, Braylon Aukland had three sacks and Carter Berard led all players with 10 tackles. Next week: vs. No. 7 Pine Creek, 7 p.m. Oct. 3.
7. Pine Creek (3-2) lost vs. No. 1 Cherry Creek, 42-0: A year after taking a tie game into the fourth quarter against the Bruins, Pine Creek struggled to hang with the defending 5A champions. The Eagles have now lost to the first- and second-ranked teams in the state, and outscored their other three opponents 125-48. Next week: at No. 6 Legend, 7 p.m. Oct. 3.
8. Fairview (4-1) won at Smoky Hill, 47-0: The Knights hammered the Buffaloes as QB Ki Ellison had a handful of TDs by air and by ground. Dynamic wideout Toray Davis continues to be unguardable as Fairview was up 40-0 by halftime. Next week: at Prairie View, 7 p.m. Oct. 3.
9. Grandview (3-2) did not play: The Wolves got a week off to prepare for a critical road trip to Arapahoe next Friday. Next week: at Arapahoe, 7 p.m. Oct. 3
: The Tigers blocked a field goal as time expired to put an exclamation point on a signature win against a 4A heavyweight. Braylon Toliver’s 13-yard TD run with 2:33 left was the difference in a back-and-forth thriller. Lincoln Hageman scored a touchdown receiving and on a pick-6 in a tremendous all-around performance that also included a sack. Next week: at Rangeview, 6:30 p.m. Oct. 3
Class 4A
1. Dakota Ridge (5-0) won at Cherokee Trail, 38-21: The Eagles stepped up a weight class and kept their undefeated record intact. Senior quarterback Kellen Behrendsen was almost perfect, completing 21 of 22 passes for 265 yards and four touchdowns. Junior Coby Stewart caught five of those balls for 72 yards and two touchdowns, while senior Landon Kalsbeck had 12 touches for 105 yards and a touchdown. Next week: vs. Ponderosa, 7 p.m. Oct. 2.
2. Montrose (5-0) won vs. Fruita Monument, 49-8: Elijah Womack uncorked a 72-yard rushing TD with five minutes left in the opening frame, and the rout was on. Montrose then had a scoop-and-score and another Womack rushing TD, this time from 41 yards out, to make it 22-0 by the end of the first quarter. Next week: vs. Falcon, 6 p.m. Oct. 3.
: The Eagles have been playing with fire for weeks now, including eking out a one-point win over Legacy last week. It finally caught up to the defending Class 4A champions. Broomfield held a 13-6 lead at halftime, and Kashus Clarvoe’s 70-yard TD run put the Eagles up 25-20 with 5:08 left. But Broomfield gave up a late TD and then had its 22-yard field goal attempt blocked as time expired. Next week: vs. Longmont, 7 p.m. Oct. 3.
4. Palmer Ridge (5-0) won at Mesa Ridge, 35-7: The Bears ruined Mesa Ridge’s homecoming with another attention-catching performance. The first half was a battle of the defenses, as Palmer Ridge held a 7-0 lead going into the locker rooms before breaking the game open over the final two quarters. Next week: at Air Academy, 7 p.m. Oct. 3.
5. Vista Ridge (4-1) lost at No. 10 Pueblo West, 20-0: The Wolves had their early-season momentum stymied by the Cyclones as the offense had nothing going. It’s the first time Vista Ridge has been shut out since Oct. 27, 2023, in a 51-0 loss to Palmer Ridge. Next week: vs. Liberty, 7 p.m. Oct. 3.
6. Durango (4-1) won at Grand Junction, 31-0: The Demons defense continued its torrid start to the season, posting its second shutout in three games to lead Durango to a fourth straight win. Durango has allowed 12 total points since losing to No. 2 Montrose 35-14 in the opening week of the season. Next week: vs. Rampart, 6 p.m. Oct. 2.
7. Golden (5-0) won at Lakewood, 42-7: The Demons are 5-0 for the first time since 2021, when they started 7-0. But the schedule stiffens up next week with the start of 4A South Metro League play as Heritage, Ponderosa and Dakota Ridge all loom in October. Next week: vs. No. 8 Heritage, 7 p.m. Oct. 2.
: The Eagles dropped a second Littleton grudge match in four weeks, falling to the 5A Rebels after senior Will Monroe blocked a point-after attempt with 6:20 to go. Mo Thenell put the Eagles on the precipice of tying the game with a 13-yard TD run, but Monroe and While Adame applied pressure on the extra point to secure the win for the Rebels (2-3). Columbine junior Ajay Gonzales and senior Mark Snyder both topped 100 yards on the ground and scored a touchdown apiece. Next week: at No. 7 Golden, 7 p.m. Oct. 2.
9. Riverdale Ridge (5-0) won vs. Silver Creek, 49-0: Sophomore QB Ricky Weeks threw touchdown passes to three different receivers and finished with 131 yards on 9-of-14 passing in a rout. Diego Galvan added 120 yards and two TDs on just nine carries, while the Ravens defense posted its second consecutive shutout in the team’s second straight 49-0 rout. Next week: vs. Skyline, 7 p.m. Oct. 3.
10. Pueblo West (4-1) won vs. No. 5 Vista Ridge, 20-0: The Cyclones got an amazing effort from their defense. Chase Harrison’s rushing TD late in the first quarter gave Pueblo West a lead, Thor Patrick-Garcia had a second-quarter field goal, and Chester Mathews had another field goal late in the fourth. Next week: vs. Doherty, 7 p.m. Oct. 3.

1. Windsor (5-0) won vs. No. 5 Roosevelt, 26-14. Next week: Bye.
