A displaced 30 people Saturday morning after burning through two units and causing smoke and water damage throughout the building, fire officials said.
People called 911 around 6:30 a.m. after seeing smoke and flames coming from the upper level of an apartment building near 13th Avenue and Lamar Street, West Metro Fire Rescue officials said.

One cat died after firefighters rescued it from the fire, the agency said. Crews also rescued two other cats and a parrot. No other injuries were reported.
