Denver Summit FC made another move to bolster its back line.
The club announced on Monday that it signed veteran defender Megan Reid, a Canadian Women’s National Team player and National Women’s Soccer League mainstay, to a three-year contract through 2028.
The move came four days after announcing the acquisition of another veteran center-back, Kaleigh Kurtz.
Reid has played the last four seasons in the NWSL for Angel City FC. The 29-year-old played every minute of Angel City’s inaugural season in 2022, and has been a pillar on the team’s defense in the three years since. On the international stage, the center-back earned her first cap for Canada last December.
“Adding Megan to our roster gives Summit FC a defender with proven consistency and international experience,” Summit FC general manager Curt Johnson said in a statement. “Her professionalism, durability, and competitive drive make her a perfect fit as we build our team for the inaugural season.”
With Reid and Kurtz under contract, Summit FC has two significant defensive pieces in place for its inaugural 2026 season. Denver has also announced three other roster additions: forward Ally Watt (via trade with the Orlando Pride), midfielder Lourdes Bosch (acquired via a transfer fee from Melbourne City FC), and forward Nahikari García (the club’s first international signing).
In a statement, Reid said she’s thrilled “to be part of building something new in the NWSL.”
“This club’s energy, ambition, and vision really stood out to me,” Reid said. “I’m excited to get on the field, contribute from day one, and help establish a winning culture in Denver.”
Summit FC’s first home match will be on March 28, 2026, at Empower Field. Tickets for that match went on sale to the general public starting last week.
