A Thursday on suspicion of sexually assaulting someone while on duty and tampering with evidence in a separate case, city officials said.

Henry Soni was arrested on suspicion of sexual assault and two counts of unlawful sexual conduct by a peace officer for a Nov. 4 incident, the police department said in a news release.

Soni was on duty at the time of the assault but was not responding to a call for service, according to the agency.

Soni also faces charges for his handling of a different investigation, including attempting to influence a public servant, forgery, evidence tampering and misconduct.

He was hired by the Denver Police Department in 2024 and most recently worked as a patrol officer in District 3, department officials said.

Since the sexual assault investigation began, on Nov. 5, Soni was told to stay at home for his work shifts. He was suspended without pay after his arrest Thursday.

Anyone with information about the case or who may have had inappropriate outreach or criminal conduct from Soni can contact the Denver Police Department at 720-913-2000.

The police department’s administrative review of the cases will start after the criminal cases have concluded.

Information about Soni’s next court date was not available Thursday.
