A group of skiers found a man unresponsive on a ski run at Keystone Resort around noon Wednesday, Jan. 7, according to a Summit County Sheriff’s Office Facebook post.

Keystone Resort said the incident involved a 59-year-old male guest. The bystanders called for help and began CPR on the man, who was located on The Grizz, a single-black run in the resortap Outback area.

When Keystone Ski Patrol arrived, they continued life-saving measures before moving the skier to a helicopter landing zone, where a Flight for Life helicopter took him to CommonSpirit St. Anthony Summit Hospital. The man was pronounced dead at the hospital.

The Sheriff’s Office post states the man was wearing a helmet when the other skiers found him. The investigation is ongoing, the post stated, and the Sheriff’s Office will not provide any additional details at this time.
