A Longmont police officer shot and killed a woman late Thursday after she reportedly brandished a gun. Police said the woman wanted to kill herself.
Police responded to a report of a suicidal woman at 4:15 p.m. Thursday in the 1500 block of East Third Avenue. After she fired a gun in the house’s garage, police called for backup and ordered people near East Third Avenue and Great Western Drive to shelter in place around 5:08 p.m., according to a .
Crisis negotiators, including officers trained in the Crisis Intervention Team response for individuals experiencing a mental health crisis, negotiated with the woman for “an extended period of time,” according to a Friday afternoon .
