Sensors in southern Colorado recorded a small earthquake near Walsenburg early Monday morning, according to the U.S. Geological Survey.

The 3.0-magnitude earthquake shook land roughly 3 miles southwest of Walsenburg just before 6:30 a.m. Monday, according to a from the U.S. Geological Survey. This magnitude of earthquake is typically categorized as “weak” and does not cause significant damage, .

A field manager with the and local authorities were investigating the earthquake on Monday to determine if it impacted the community, according to state officials.

Another weak earthquake, roughly 2.3 in magnitude, was recorded roughly 4 miles southwest of Walsenburg late Sunday night, . That earthquake happened at about 11:45 p.m., according to a from the agency.
