Denver boasts 3 of the nation’s most coveted ice cream shops, according to Yelp

Hot summer weather calls for cold scoops of ice cream, and lucky for Denverites, there are several local shops serving up cones alongside the most popular in the nation.

On Wednesday, Yelp released a list of the in the country and three from in the Mile High City made the cut. The restaurant reviewing platform compiled its list based on which stores that had the most “saves” or “bookmarks” among its users, with added weight for star ratings and the number of reviews.

Locals likely won’t be surprised to learn that ’s flagship location at 2620 16th St. was Denver’s top spot. The iconic milk jug-shaped stand, which usually has long line of sweet-seekers waiting at its window, landed at No. 8 on Yelp’s “most saved” list. The top three in the U.S. were Mitchell’s Ice Cream in San Francisco (No. 1), Soft Swerve in New York City (No. 2) and Mashti Malone’s in Los Angeles (No. 3). ()

Elsewhere on the list, another Little Man — at 3506 12th Ave. in Congress Park — ranked No. 38. Formerly called Sweet Cooie’s, , though the colorful 1920s soda shop aesthetic remains.

The 40-year-old classic , at 799 S. University Blvd., rounds out the local places that were spotlighted. The shop is known for its old-fashioned vibe and selection of more than 30 flavors.
