A man was seriously injured in an encounter with a moose and calf east of Nederland on Friday evening, according to the Boulder County Sheriff’s Office.
The Sheriff’s Office responded to Winger Drive near the 6500 block of Magnolia around 7:15 p.m. Friday, according to spokesperson Vinnie Montez. The man was walking his dog when he encountered the moose and calf near the end of a driveway. He was taken to a local hospital.
In an email, the Sheriff’s Office did not specify how the injury occurred.
A Colorado Parks and Wildlife spokesperson on Saturday said, “We are still investigating.”
“We have not determined if this was an attack at this time,” spokesperson Kara Van Hoose said.
Responding personnel did not locate the moose, Montez said in a Saturday morning email.
