Deputy fired after alleged sexual misconduct involving inmate, Arapahoe County officials say

An Arapahoe County sheriff’s deputy was arrested Tuesday on suspicion of sexual misconduct involving a female inmate at the county’s detention facility, the .

Kevin Lacy, 37, is facing charges of sexual conduct in a correctional institution and official misconduct, stemming from an August incident, court records show. The sheriff’s office put Lacy, a detention deputy, on paid administrative leave in September after it learned of the reported misconduct, and fired him Tuesday.

The female inmate has been transferred to another jail, Arapahoe County officials said in the news release.

“Deputy Lacy’s conduct does not reflect the character, integrity or professional standards of this agency,” Sheriff Tyler Brown said in a statement. “Maintaining the safety and well-being of individuals in our custody is a responsibility we take seriously. Holding our employees accountable when they fail to uphold the standards expected of them is essential to maintaining the public’s trust.”

The news release did not specify the misconduct Lacy is accused of.

Lacy is set to appear for a hearing on advisement at 9 a.m. Wednesday.
