Orange is the new blue and gold in Denver.
The Nuggets will wear uniforms to honor their ABA roots in nine games this season, including seven at home, the team announced Monday. Ball Arena will also be adorned with a specialty court for those occasions. The jerseys feature “Denver” across the chest in black lettering with a white-and-black trim.
The Pacers, Spurs and Nets also unveiled ABA-themed uniforms Monday, celebrating 50 years since the league merged with the NBA. Denver’s team was originally named the Rockets when the ABA launched in 1967. After rebranding to the Nuggets, they reached the championship series in 1976, the league’s last year of independent existence before merging.
Denver will wear the original Rockets logo on its shorts.
Fans can buy the themed jerseys online or at Denver’s team store this season. Here are the nine games in which they’ll be featured.
