He has recently written a book entitled My Next Step which chronicles his almost 1 1/2 year struggle recovering from a near death experience. Liniger was diagnosed with methicillin-resistant Staphylococcus aureus, or MRSA, in late January of 2012. The bacteria had formed sacs of pus all around his spine. He apparently got the infection by scraping his forearm when he tripped in his garage at his home in Castle Pines. Liniger was flown to the Sky Ridge Medical Center in Lone Tree, where he ended up spending about seven months, part of it in a coma.
