Erma M Mantey OBITUARY

Obituary Erma Mantey, born Erma Mae Janecek, passed away on March 23, 2026, at the age of 87. She was born on April 18, 1938, in Detroit, Michigan, the eldest of three daughters.

Erma graduated from Mercy College in Detroit with a degree in chemistry, beginning a career as a medical technologist that reflected her intelligence, precision, and dedication to helping others. In the late 1960s, she moved to Boulder, Colorado, with her first husband, Charles “Chuck” Lynch. Together, they built both a life and a legacy, founding three companies, including Lynch Material Handling.

After Chuck’s passing in 1991, Erma demonstrated remarkable strength and determination by continuing to lead and manage the businesses they had built together until her retirement. Her resilience and work ethic left a lasting impact on those who worked with her and knew her.

In 1997, Erma married John Mantey, with whom she shared many happy years until his passing in 2019.

Erma was preceded in death by her parents, her first husband Charles Lynch, her second husband John Mantey, and her younger sister, Mary Margaret De Langis. She is survived by her youngest sister, as well as her step children and grandchildren, numerous nieces, nephews, cousins, and close friends who will remember her with deep affection and her passion for life.

Erma was a lifelong lover of music, a devoted attendee of symphony performances, as well as an avid supporter of education. She also found joy in quieter pursuits such as reading, sewing, and knitting—activities through which she expressed both creativity and care. In her later years, she found joy in traveling with her niece and nephew, Maureen and Tim DuBois, to new destinations, always ready for the next adventure.

Erma will be remembered for her strength, independence, and enduring appreciation for life’s beauty, as well as for the love she shared with family and friends. Her legacy lives on in the lives she touched and the example she set.
