Eugene Petrone OBITUARY

Gene, a beloved husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather and friend, passed away peacefully on August 15. A proud Coloradan, he devoted his life to family, public service, education, and his community. He was honored to be the first Coloradan nominated to the US Air Force Academy and went on to serve Senator John Carroll, Colorado governors and state leaders, higher education institutions, and AIG. Above all, Gene treasured his family – his wife of 70 years Judy, their children Gene, Steve and Melissa, and his grandchildren and great-grandchildren. He will be remembered for his wisdom, generosity, warmth, dedication, and belief in creating opportunities for future generations. Donations may be made to the Colorado State University Foundation First Generation Awards Program in support of students and education. In celebration of Gene’s life, the family invites guests to wear bright or cheerful colors rather than black. A Funeral Mass will be held Thursday, August 27th at 10:00 a.m. at Our Lady of Mount Carmel Italian Catholic Church in Denver. Visitation information is available through Mount Olivet Catholic Cemetery. Gene will be deeply missed and forever loved.
