Gary Lee Ayers OBITUARY
Gary Ayers of Highlands Ranch, Colorado, passed away on April 15, 2026, at age 69. A devoted father, his greatest joy was his six children: Matthew Ayers, Marilisa (Tony) Toro, Annalisa Ayers, Joshua Ayers, Angelina Ayers, and Luke Ayers.
Born July 22, 1956, in Toledo, Ohio, to Herbert and Doris Linker, Gary was one of thirteen children; and later adopted by George and Mary Ayers. He grew up in Northwest Ohio and Southeast Michigan, cherishing summers at Michigan’s Devil’s Lake with family and friends. His compassion for animals was expressed through his vegetarian lifestyle and as an advocate for animal well-being.
Gary devoted 45 years in telecommunications with Sprint, MCI, and Verizon. He valued his colleagues deeply and cherished the lasting relationships he established over his lifetime. Known for his signature wink and boundless energy, Gary loved building and repairing a multitude of things, enjoying nature, and expressing himself through poetry and music. His writing reflected resilience, love, and perseverance; a free spirit and teacher of compassion, he encouraged positivity and kindness and inspired many through his art.
Gary was preceded in death by his birth parents, adoptive parents, and siblings, Michael Albert, Carol Damschroder, and Brenda Besase, his adoptive sister. He is lovingly remembered by his children, siblings, extended family, and many friends. A Celebration of Life will be held on Tuesday, May 26, at 12:30 p.m. at the Dixon Chapel & Memorial Garden in Highlands Ranch, Colorado; service details and additional information are available on the Kramer Family Funeral & Cremation Center website ().
Family and friends are invited to gather in his memory and honor the impact he had on so many lives. Gary’s legacy lives on in the love he gave, the people he brought together, and the family he cherished.
