Patricia Culhane Upton passed away on August 14, 2026, in Evergreen, Colorado, after living for many decades in Greenwood Village and Denver. Born in Springfield, Minnesota, Patricia was the middle of 11 children. Her family later moved to Spokane, Washington, where she attended school and began college. At 21, she became one of the first female professionals in public relations at Pacific Bell, and was crowned Miss Spokane in 1954, on the same evening she met her future husband, Clark Upton. Married in 1955, Patricia and Clark welcomed four children in Spokane and Bellevue. She was active in St. Louise Parish and the Lake Washington Singers.
The family relocated to Greenwood Village for nearly 40 years. During this time, she and her husband welcomed six grandchildren, and one more after moving to Denver. Her first great grandchild was born in the spring of 2026. Patricia enjoyed birdwatching, reading and playing bridge. Her community service included her time as an election judge from 1970-2007. Spending time with her family was her highest priority and greatest joy. For the past several decades she was an integral member of her neighborhood book club. In recent years, she was active in her community’s choral program, singing in and MC’ing many concerts over the past years.
Patricia was preceded in death by her husband Clark who passed in 2020, and is survived by her four children Suzanne, Jim (Amy), Dan (Min) and Maureen, seven grandchildren and one great grandchild. At 96, she was the last surviving of the 11 Culhane children.
Her Celebration of Life service will be held on Friday August 28 from 11am-1:30pm, at Horan & McConaty at 5303 E. County Line Rd, Centennial, Colorado
