Sally Gart OBITUARY
Sally Gart OBITUARY
Sally Ann Striker Gart, beloved matriarch of Denver’s Gart family, passed away peacefully on June 23, 2026, at the age of 93. With extraordinary strength, grace, and generosity, she possessed a rare gift for making everyone she encountered feel welcomed, valued, and deeply cared for.
Sally was a woman of many talents and interests. She was a pilot, an accomplished home chef, an avid mahjong and bridge player, a graceful skier, and a devoted reader. Deeply philanthropic, she generously supported numerous charitable organizations and causes throughout her life.
To her family, Sally was the keeper of traditions, passing down treasured recipes to her family, gathering with loved ones around the Shabbat table, and always providing a familiar voice, wise counsel, and unwavering support.
Born in Denver on June 20, 1933, to Miriam and Isadore Striker, Sally grew up in the Hilltop neighborhood alongside her beloved late sister, Bobby. After studying English literature at Sophie Newcomb College, she married Paul Gerald “Jerry” Gart in 1954. Together they built a life centered on family, friendship, and adventure until Jerry’s passing in 1996. While Jerry helped build the Gart Brothers sporting goods empire, Sally remained the family’s steadfast heart and guiding presence.
Sally is survived by her sons and daughters-in-law, Ken and Rebecca, Tom and Margie, and John and Martha Gart; seven grandchildren and their spouses; and six cherished great-grandchildren. Her legacy of unconditional love, sharp wit, enduring kindness, and timeless elegance will continue to inspire all who knew and loved her.
