Ted Graham OBITUARY

Ted Graham OBITUARY

Ted Nelson Graham, youngest son of Alice and Leonard Graham, brother to Max Graham and sister-in-law Pam Graham, Susan Lawler and brother-in-law Bill Lawler, husband of Karen Graham (second marriage) and Mary Smith (first marriage), and father of Alexandra Graham, finally embraced death after years of evading it. Ted defied expectations throughout his life, never wanting to live his life according to convention or other people’s opinions. He traveled widely, held a variety of jobs in many different industries, and experienced as much of life as he possibly could until he couldn’t. A voracious reader unpicky about genre, length, or writing styles, he knew more about the Gilded Age and the turn into the 20th century than probably the people living in it. Up until he died, he paid attention to current events, never missing an opportunity to learn more about the world around him. Quite the raconteur as the author of many Too Tall Ted’s Too Tall Tales, he entertained audiences of adults and their children throughout his life. He loved music, teaching himself how to play both piano and guitar, with Dire Straits’ Sultans of Swing and Rachmaninoff’s Prelude in C-Sharp Minor as his biggest achievements. Ted collected interesting and offbeat characters around himself, and he made a difference in the world, in ways large and small, noticed and unnoticed. He will be missed.
