Walter Leser OBITUARY

Walter Paul Leser passed away at 97 years of age on July 25, 2026, in Denver, Colorado. He was a devoted Husband, father, and friend.

Walt was born in 1929 in Frankfurt am Main, Germany. As a young boy his family fled to Denmark to escape the events unfolding in Germany. In 1937 Walt and his Magistrate father emigrated to the US and began life in Denver, Colorado. They lived in a lovely home on 16th and Monaco Blvd and several years later became U.S. citizens.

Walt attended public schools at Smiley Junior High and East High School during which he developed a love of car mechanics and Friday-night Street racing. He went on to graduate from the University of Colorado in Boulder with a degree in Mechanical engineering. He was employed by John Deere, Marquart Aircraft, and did development work on the Titan missile system. Several chief engineering positions followed culminating with the American Snowblast Company. During this time, he was able to complete a MBA at his alma mater and a graduate research program in Nuclear Engineering at UCLA.

In 1971 Walt decided to pivot into commercial real estate. His new family moved back to Denver and raised their 3 girls; Nicole Leser Downs, Melinda Lestoque Elliot and Sharla Lestoque Riead. Later he met and married his lovely wife of 54 years Marilyn. She brought her three children, Steven Smith, Jeffrey Leser and Jennifer Leser into this blended family and continued to live in Denver.

His joys were restoring vintage Jaguars, skiing, and hiking. And spending time with his children (6), grandchildren (10), and great grandchildren (15). He is preceded in death by his father Albert, mother Gerda, and sister Bettina.
