Who: Cully and Jane Carlstrom of Denver, Andree Vetter of Westminster, Toni Zeier of Thornton and Wayne Winslow of Denver
Where: Huatulco, on a catamaran to see the sunset, in the Bay of Tangolunda
Out and about: While reading The Denver Post Travel section in late December we stumbled across the word “Huatulco’ as a destination in Mexico. Since many of us have been to all the other resorts in Mexico, Huatulco got our attention. Huatulco is about 250 miles south of Acapulco. It is not a crowded area. Huatulco has several resort hotels, all with beach access or on the beach (the Bay of Tangolunda). The beaches are long, sweeping and uncrowded.
Travel tip: Huatulco is a great place to go to get rid of the blues and stress. Activities include snorkeling, sunset cruises, bird-watching and sitting under a palapa while taking in the beauty of Tangolunda Bay. The cities of Santa Cruz and La Crucecita are a short taxi ride away (about 25 to 30 pesos each way, $2.25-$2.70).
