Dominique Coleman, a 6-foot-4 guard who led the National Junior College Athletic Association in scoring at 27.1 points per game, has signed to play basketball at the University of Colorado.

Coleman averaged 7.2 rebounds at Hillsborough (Fla.) Community College and ranked seventh nationally with 3.8 steals per game.

CSU fourth at Drake

One day after setting a school record in the 800-meter relay, Colorado State’s Katrice Thomas, Janay DeLoach, Megan Fox and Becky Hammit set a school record in the sprint medley relay with a fourth-place finish at the Drake Relays in Des Moines, Iowa.

The quartet’s time of 3 minutes, 57.99 second broke the old school mark, set in 1997, by more than three seconds.

DeLoach also finished third in the long jump.

Wyoming grabbed two first-place finishes in the invitational division, with Jessica Fox winning the 400 meters and Shauna Smith the 400 hurdles. Wyoming’s Kyle Herl won the hammer throw in the university/college division. Also, Smith, Fox, Sharon Larrier and Amanda Hopper won the 1,600 relay in the university division.

DU women win

The University of Denver women’s lacrosse team (6-11) got hat tricks from Steph Greenlees, Megan Tyrie and Crystal Jack on its way to a 17-8 win over fifth-ranked Colorado College (10-1) in Colorado Springs.

Lobos win MWC golf

Air Force’s Tyler Goulding shot a 69 to tie for seventh at the Mountain West Conference men’s golf championships in Sunriver, Ore.

Nick Becker of BYU shot a 68 for a three-round, 8-under-par 208 to win individual honors.

Goulding finished at 215, three shots ahead of Colorado State’s Nate Pettit, who fell back with a final-round 75.

New Mexico won the team event with an 8-under 856, three strokes better than UNLV. Colorado State (886) was fifth, Wyoming (898) sixth and Air Force (907) eighth.

CSU netters grab fifth

Anne Andersen, Carla Pallares, Jessica Jones and Alexandra Paganetti won their singles matches to give CSU a 4-1 win over Utah for fifth place at the MWC tennis championships in San Diego.

Falcons break streak

Karl Bolt hit a solo home run in the bottom of the 11th inning to give Air Force an 8-7 win over BYU in the completion of a game suspended by darkness Friday. The win broke the Falcons’ 47-game conference losing streak.

BYU won Saturday’s regularly scheduled game 17-9.

Jason Hanna pitched 6 1/3 shutout innings to lead Metro State (25-24, 10-11 Rocky Mountain Athletic Conference) to a 7-0 win over Fort Hays State (23-20, 10-12) in the second game of a doubleheader at Auraria Field.

Fort Hays State won the opener 3-2.
