Robert Fick had a two-run home run and finished with three RBIs on Sunday to help the visiting Portland Beavers defeat the Colorado Springs Sky Sox 7-4 in a Pacific Coast League game.

Fick’s home run off of broke a 2-2 tie in the fifth inning, and the Sky Sox couldn’t catch up.

Marty McLeary (1-1) was the winner for Portland. He gave up four hits, two runs and five walks in five innings and struck out five. Brad Baker picked up the save.

Hampson (0-3) gave up eight hits, five runs and five walks. He struck out three.

Jeff Pickler was 2-for-4 with a triple and three runs scored for the Sky Sox.

CSU ends with win

The Colorado State water polo team wrapped up its inaugural season with a 6-1 victory over Cal State Monterey Bay in the ninth-place match of the Western Water Polo Association Tournament in Davis, Calif.

Buffs finish 11th

The Colorado men’s golf team, trying to avoid posting a last-place finish in a conference championship in 56 years, rallied with the fifth-best team score of the day and finished 11th at the Big 12 championships in Trinity, Texas.

CU junior Edward McGlasson shot a 75 for a 228 total, tying him for 22nd overall.
