Ex-CU star Vandiver returns to Wyoming
Shaun Vandiver has returned to the Wyoming basketball coaching staff.
Vandiver, a standout player at Colorado, previously served as a graduate assistant with Wyoming in 2002-03. He went to Bowling Green as a full-time assistant for the 2003-04 season and coached this past season at Northern Colorado.
Vandiver helped end a 22-year postseason drought by leading the Buffaloes, as a transfer, to the NIT semifinals in 1991.
He was the first-round draft choice of Golden State in the 1991 NBA draft and played nine years in Europe.
“This is an opportunity that I’m extremely excited about,” Vandiver said. “I appreciate Coach McClain giving me this chance to come in and contribute to an outstanding program.”
Mankato takes regional
No Colorado schools or individuals shot well enough to advance after play in the Division II Northwest Regional golf tournament at Dakota Dunes Country Club in Vermillion, S.D.
Minnesota State won the Northwest Regional with a 78-over par 942 total, 14 strokes better than Colorado-Colorado Springs and 16 better than Colorado State-Pueblo. The other two Rocky Mountain Athletic Conference qualifiers, Fort Lewis and Regis, finished seventh and eighth, respectively, in the eight-team field.
